Advanced Taxation Graduate Certificate


The Advanced Taxation certificate program for graduate students offers specialized knowledge and skills in advanced topics in taxation. The curriculum has been specially created to provide students with the necessary technical knowledge and skills to effectively apply the complexities of tax law to individuals and business organizations and work as a tax professional in the areas of consulting and compliance.

Admissions Standards/Procedures


Applicants can be currently admitted to a degree program at UTK or can apply solely for the Taxation Graduate Certificate. Applicants are expected to have a baccalaureate degree in accounting. Students from other disciplines may be admitted but may be required to take prerequisite courses as described in the Graduate Catalog. Recommended background knowledge includes principles and intermediate I/II financial reporting/accounting.

Applicants may be admitted to the certificate or complete the certificate as part of an MS or PhD.

Academic Standards


Students must maintain an average 3.00 graduate GPA across all certificate courses in the program and complete the requirements within five years of applying for a certificate.
