Counseling and Human Services Minor
Return to: Minors, A-Z
The minor in Counseling and Human Services provides students with foundational understanding of key concepts in the field, preparing them for a range of bachelor’s-level or graduate-level careers. The minor emphasizes human development, mental health literacy, wellness, and facilitative skills, which are essential for individuals pursuing careers that support individuals, families, and communities. Students gain a comprehensive overview of the field, equipping them to understand and address human behavior, emotional well-being, and the psychosocial factors that influence overall health. The minor culminates in a capstone learning experience where students apply the theories and skills they have developed in real-world settings, enhancing practical understanding of the discipline. The minor is particularly beneficial for students pursuing careers in mental health, social services, education, and other helping professions, as it provides a strong academic and experiential base for future work or advanced study.
